Gail Long

Skater’s Story

Gail Long lives in Mount Gretna, Pa. with her two black cats, Wwilbur and Wwhoopsie. She is an emergency manager for the federal government in Harrisburg, Pa.

As a kid, Gail took lessons for a short time at the Hershey Arena but hadn’t skated much since then when she came across a Facebook ad for an RIU Open House. She had never heard of synchro but figured she had nothing to lose by checking it out. Gail attended an Open House and everyone was so nice and welcoming that she was hooked immediately by both the sport and the sense of community among the team.

“I have only recently gotten back into skating but have really enjoyed the challenge of trying to learn new skills. Everyone at RIU has been so welcoming, encouraging, and patient.”
